Community outreach is an important part of what makes Columbia United Christian Church a family. Here are just some of the outreach programs/efforts:
Monthly Community Dinners–Generally held on the second Thursday of the month. There is always a need for food and volunteers to help serve & set up the meal.
Food Pantry–CUCC works with the Coalition for Compassion, providing groceries and BGE assistance. If you would like to donate to the Food Pantry, please bring items to church with you Sunday or drop them off at the front desk. You may also send monetary donations, please mark your check or envelope with “Coalition for Compassion.”
Yearly participation in the CROP Walk to end world hunger.
Disaster Relief–We respond to crises. Examples of recent efforts: donating gift cards for those affected by the Hurricanes in Puerto Rico; collecting supplies for those affected by Hurricane Harvey; “adopting” two Earl’s Place Residents for Christmas.
Responding to the congregation’s needs: moving assistance for a member; furniture donation; fundraising, couples counseling.
Green Congregation efforts: Recycle & Reuse Church Bulletins to help cut down on waste. Gather used ink cartridges from the congregation and recycle them, congregants volunteer to to help maintain the community grounds, maintain a community garden on the grounds. (volunteers always needed)
Columbia United Christian Church is truly a church that cares.
